Independence’s Trusted Paint Correction Specialists

Restore the shine and clarity to your vehicle’s paint by our detailing experts.

Understanding Paint Correction

Paint correction is the process of eliminating surface flaws like swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, and water spots from your vehicle’s clear coat. Whether it’s a daily driver, show car, or something in between, we use this method to bring out a stunning, like-new finish. Under natural sunlight, the difference is hard to miss.

We use precision machine polishing with specially designed pads and compounds to carefully smooth out the surface. It’s all about enhancing your paint’s appearance without cutting too deep into the clear coat.

Why is that a big deal? Over-polishing can cause unnecessary wear on the clear coat or, worse, burn through it entirely, leading to costly repainting. Sadly, we’ve corrected a lot of damage left behind by careless work elsewhere. That’s why it’s so important to choose someone with experience.

At Code Auto Spa, we inspect your paint closely and follow safe, proven methods to remove flaws while keeping the integrity of your finish intact. Whether your ride’s brand new, a weekend cruiser, or a well-loved classic, we know how to make it turn heads again.

A lot of clients also choose to add ceramic coating after a paint correction for lasting defense against Independence’s unpredictable weather.

Our Paint Correction Process

We achieve top-quality results by following a carefully refined process. Unlike quick-turnaround car washes, we focus on every step to ensure a high-quality finish.

Thorough wash and dry: We start with a thorough exterior wash, including wheels and tires, to remove dirt, road grime, and contaminants. A clean surface is essential before any polishing begins.

Cleanse the paint: This step removes stubborn, embedded contaminants like brake dust and industrial fallout. A smooth, contaminant-free surface ensures the best results during polishing.

Inspect the paint and perform a test spot: We evaluate your vehicle’s paint condition and test different polish and pad combinations to find the best approach. This ensures we get maximum results with minimal clear coat removal.

Polish the imperfections away: This is where the magic happens. Using professional-grade polishers and compounds, we carefully remove swirls, scratches, and haze from the paint. Whether you’re looking for a full restoration or just an enhancement, we tailor the process to your vehicle’s needs.

Protect your paint: Once we’ve polished the paint to perfection, we apply a high-quality sealant or ceramic coating (available at an additional cost) to lock in the results and protect against Independence’s elements.

Final touches: To complete the job, we clean all the glass and windows, wipe down door jambs, and dress the tires for that fully detailed look.

We use this proven system on all vehicles, from newer vehicles needing minor enhancement to older vehicles requiring a full restoration.

The Tools and Products We Use For Premium Results

Getting a flawless result starts with having the right tools in hand. Since every vehicle’s paint condition is different, we use a full lineup of pro-grade polishers, pads, and compounds to get the job done right.

Polishers

Polishers come in several sizes like 1″, 3″, and 5″, and in different types such as rotary, dual-action, and forced rotation. Bigger polishers are great for large areas like hoods and doors. Smaller ones help with tighter spots like side mirrors and bumpers. We also rely on the smaller polishers during headlight restoration work.

Pads

Pads do the actual contact work on your paint when attached to the polisher. We switch between several kinds depending on what your paint needs. Wool pads are the most aggressive, perfect for tough swirl marks and hard clear coats that need deeper correction.

Next are microfiber cutting pads, they strike a balance between strong and gentle. Not too aggressive, but definitely not weak. Foam pads come last in the lineup and are used to refine the finish and boost shine at the final stage.

Compounds and Polishes

Compounds and polishes make up the finishing steps in our correction process. Compounds are for the cutting stage, where we tackle the heavy imperfections. Then we move on to a fine polish with a softer pad to bring out that deep gloss and crystal clarity.

Before we begin, we always test out combinations of pads, polish, and compound to make sure your vehicle gets the best possible treatment.

Understanding the Difference Between Hard and Soft Clear Coats

When it comes to polishing, you’ll often hear the terms “hard” and “soft” clear coat. That’s because they make a big difference in how we approach the job and the kind of results we can achieve.

Clear coat acts as a shield over your vehicle’s paint, but not all of them behave the same way. They typically fall into two categories, soft clear coat or hard clear coat.

Hard clear coats do a better job of resisting swirls, scratches, and other minor damage. Your paint will usually stay looking nicer for longer. But once those imperfections do show up, they’re tougher to correct. You’ll need stronger compounds, heavier cutting pads, and more polishing time to get them out. The good news is, once corrected, a hard clear coat usually holds its finish longer than a soft one.

Soft clear coats are easier to mar and scratch, so they show flaws more often. The upside is that those same flaws are usually quicker and easier to correct. Less aggressive polish, softer pads, and shorter buffing sessions can bring back the shine without removing too much material. The challenge is keeping it that way, it takes more care when washing and drying to avoid adding more defects.

No matter what type of clear coat your car has, we’ve got the experience, equipment, and know-how to polish it the right way. Hard or soft, we’ll get your paint looking the way it should, with clarity, depth, and a brilliant finish.
